<br />RESOLUTION NO. 8018-05 <br /> <br />BY:Corrigan,Demro,Dever,Dunn <br />FitzGerald,Madigan,Seelie <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION that the Council of the City of Lakewood wili endorse, support and to <br />piedge to work for the passage of the amendments to the Second Amended Charter of the City of <br />lakewood which would permit City Council to adopt ordinances and resolutions pertaining to <br />basic water rates and servíce charges, and to pass ordinances and resolutions allowing salary <br />adjustments for the Mayor or any member of Oty Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Article XXIII, Section 8, of the Second Amended Charter of the <br />City of Lakewood, the Charter Review Commission was convened in 2004, and the Charter <br />Review Commission met and considered revisions and amendments to the Charter, and made <br />certain recommendations to amend the Charter; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, one of the recommendations of the Charter Review Commission was to <br />amend Article III, Section g of the Second Amended Charter to permit Oty Councii to adopt <br />ordinances and resolutions pertaining to basic water rates and service charges; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it was the further recommendation of the Charter Review Commission to <br />amend Articie III, Section 9 of the Sècond Amended Charter to permit City Council to pass <br />ordinances and resolutions allowing salary adjustments for the Mayor or any member of City <br />Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council concurs with the conclusion of the Charter Review Commission <br />that these amendments would provide greater flexibility for the City in addressing the <br />infrastructure needs of the City in repairing and replacing aging water lines; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission further concluded that these amendments <br />will provide a more appropriate manner to consider adjustments to the salary of the Mayor or <br />members of Council; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance N0.75-05, to submit this question to the voters of the City <br />was passed by this Council on July 18, 2005 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Lakewood wiil decide this issue in the election to be <br />held November 8, 2005. Now therefore, <br /> <br />l <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br />Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood wiil endorse, support and <br />pledge to work for passage of the amendments to Article III, section 9 of the Second Amended <br />Charter of the City of Lakewood which would permit Oty Council to adopt ordinances and <br />resolutions pertaining to basic water rates and service charges, and to pass ordinances and <br />resolutions allowing salary adjustments for the Mayor or any member of City Council; and <br /> <br />Section 2.
