RBSOLUTIONNO. 8082-06 BYr Antonio, Butler, Dermro, Dever, <br /> FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> A RESOLUTION to support House Bill 294 to provide for an expedited <br />foreclosure process for specified vacant tax-delinquent properties. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, predatory lending, the economy and other factors have led to <br />a rise in foreclosures in this community as well as other communities across the State, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a large number of these foreclosures are upon real estate to,x- <br />delinquent properties, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the foreclosure process in Cuyahoga County often takes two <br />years or more, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the lengthy foreclosure process results in a loss of tax <br />revenue as well as neighbo~rhood blight caused by vacant, ill-maintained properties, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, House Bill 294 would provide for an expedited <br />adininistmtive adjudication of foreclosure-related issues for a group of select unoccupied <br />tax-delinquent properties, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such expedited adjudication would be of benefit to local <br />commm~ifies and school districts; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> SECTION 1 That this Council hereby declares its suppor~ of House Bill <br />294 and urges its passage by the General Assembly and approval by the Governor <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward a <br />copy of this Resolution to Governor Robert Taft, State Senator Daniel R. Brady, State <br />Representative Michael Skindell and Cuyahoga County Treasurer James Rokakis <br /> <br /> SECTION 3 That this Resolution shall take immediate effect and be in <br />full force immediately upon its adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor in <br />order to meet legislative deadlines provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least five <br />of i~s members elected to Council, otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the <br />earliest period allowed by law <br /> <br /> SECTION 4. That it is found and determined that all formal actions of <br />this Council ~onceming and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an <br />open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of rely of <br />its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all legal requirements <br /> <br />Adopted: .; <br /> President of Council <br /> <br />Approved: '(~/~".
