RESOLUTION NO - 8085-06 BY' <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION proclaiming the week of March 19th through March 25m as National <br />Poison Prevention Week in the City of Lakewood <br /> <br /> . WHEREAS, National Poison Prevention Week reminds us that young children need <br />constant dose supervision by responsible adults to keep them safe This week highlights the <br />dangers of unintentional pulsonings, steps that can be taken to reduce risks, and what to do in <br />case of an emergency; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, each year, a million of our nation's children are exposed to potential poisons <br />such as medicines and household chemicals. In addition, ead~ year an average of 98 children <br />aged 0-14 die as a result of ingesting pulsonous substances Such exposures and most, if not all <br />of these deaths, are preventable; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, teaching the public to lock up medicines ,and household chemicals in <br />medicine cabhiets and cupboards and using child-resistant packaging as instructed will help <br />safeguard om' cormnunity's most precious asset - our future generations; mid, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, to encourage Amelicans to learn more about the dangers of unintentional <br />poisonings and to take appropriate preventative measures, the Congress, by joint resolution <br />approved September 26, 1961, as atnended (75 Stat 681), has authorized and requested the <br />President to issue a proclamation designating the third week of March each year as "National <br />Poison Prevention Week." Now, therefore: <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO; <br /> <br /> Section 1 That this Council and Mayor declare March 19-25, 2006 as National Poison <br />Prevention Week in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Com~ciI be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy of this Resolution to: Kathryn Wesolowski, Injury Prevention Program Manager, <br />Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, University Hospitals Health System, 11100 Euclid <br />Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106-6039 and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3 It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberatiuns of this Cormcil and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />AdOpted: <br /> <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
