RESOLUTION NO <br /> <br />8086-06 <br /> <br />Dever, FitzGerald, l~adigan, Seelie. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to adopt "A City Platform for Strengthening Families and <br />Improving Outcomes for Children and Youth" as developed by the National <br />League of Cities <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National League of Cities Council on Youth, Education <br />and Families (YEF) has developed a City Platform for Strengthening Families <br />and Improving Outcomes for Children and Youth,, which outlines the essential <br />tasks necessary for sustained progress, including identifying needs and priorities, <br />promoting effective city-school collaboration, and encouraging and supporting <br />youth voice and leadership; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the YEF Council has developed a two-part platform for <br />municipal leadership to strengthen families and improve outcomes for children <br />and youth thereby offering an opportunity for mayors and other city leaders to <br />place the needs of children, youth and families high on their city's agenda; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The YEF Council's g0al is to challenge every city and town to <br />take concrete steps that are likely to yield immddiate and significant results in <br />any community, regardless of its size or composition; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has already taken concrete steps <br />outlined in the City Platform including initiating a Youth Master Plan process in <br />partnership with Lakewood City Schools that will engage youth in mapping local <br />resources and needs and implementing the Lakewood Initiative for Financial <br />Education, a community initiative to help ensure Iow-income working families <br />receive the federal Earned Income Tax Credit and to promote financial literacy <br />Now Therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br /> Section 1 The City Council and Mayor adopt the National League of <br />Cities' Platform for Strengthening Families and Improving OL~tcomes for Children <br />and Youth <br /> <br /> Section 2~ The City of Lakewood will continue to identify and support <br />specific actions that address the needs and conditions of Lakewood children, <br />youth and families <br /> <br /> Section 3 It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were adopted in an <br />open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and <br />of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings <br />open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements <br /> <br />Adopted' ~~.O ~ <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />A P P r o V e dC'~,,3%/. ,.'~,¢ 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
