RESOLUTION NO · Fitzgerald, Madigan, Seelie. A RESOLUTION proclaiming March as American Red Cross Month in the Cily of Lakewood WHEREAS, In 1943 President Frm?&lin D Roosevelt proclaimed March as the first Red Cross Month in an effort to recognize the tireless and brave efforts of the American Red Cross volunteers who assisted our armed forces during World War II. Since that time. the tradition has continued, and recolD~ition is given to all people who dedicate their services in conflicts throughout the world; and, WItEREAS, Red Cross Chapters across the country use this month to increase visibility of the prot~'ams and services the Red Cross provides in order to raise awareness of the organization in the communities it directly serves; and, WHEREAS, As a result, the public has a better understanding of the mission of the Red Cross which is to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies; and, WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the work of the Red Cross by declaring March as Red Cross Month in the City of Lakewood BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' Section 1 That this Council and Mayor declare March 200~ as Red Cross Month in the City of Lakewo0d Section 2 That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy tins Resolution to: Gloria Hricko, American Red Cross. 3747 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115-2596 a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this m~eting Section 3 It is found and determined that ail formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance w/th all legal requirements Adopted' '~.~,~-~ )..-0!
