Resolution No. 8114-06 By: Antonio, Butler, Demro, Devex, FitzGexald, Madigan, Beelie. A RESOLUTION supporting the gant application by the Division of Police to the Ohio Attomey General's Office for funding for the City's Dmg Abuse Resistance I Education. program, and commending the Division of Police for its continued efforts to educate young people of the City of Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and dings. WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D A.R.E.) progam since 1990;. and WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D A..R.E, programs in all elementary and middle schools within the City;. and WHEREAS, the D..4.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young people of the City through education as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating from the D. A.R.E.. program increases annually; and WHEREAS, funding to support the continued operation of the D.A.R,E.. program is available from the Ohio Attomey General's office. Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAEEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayor and the Council hereby support the grant application by the Division of Police to the Attorney General's Office for the funding for the City's Dmg Abuse Resistance Education program SECTION 2: That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Division of Police for its continued efforts in educating young people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs SECTION 3: It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements Adopted: D R~-e President f Clerk Approved: oP~?/O Mayor
