A RESOLUTION honoring tbe United Latvian Evangelical Lutberan Church on its lOOth anniversary WHEREAS, The United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church, 15120 Detroit A venue in Lakewood is celebrating a historic 100 year anniversary since the church was first erected in 1906, and WHEREAS, the church is one of the oldest in the city and has been home to the United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church siuce 1963, and WHEREAS, the congregation, made up of Latvian immigrants and their families, has functioned not only as a chu~ch, but also as a school, teaching the Latvian language, history and culture to its children, and has continued to sustain and nurture the Latvian heritage for future generations to cherish, and WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that tbe United Latviau Evangelical Lutheran Church be given public cognizance and recognition on its 100 year history in providing for the spiritual, cultural, social and educatiol1a1 needs of its parishioners and contributing to the vibrancy of the Lakewood community at large; now, therefore; OHIO' BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF SECTION 1. Tbat this Council and Mayor wish to join with the many parishioners and fuends of the United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in celebrating its lOOtb anniversary and further wish to offer their "apsveikumi" to Lakewood's cherished Latvian community SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Ed Auzenbergs, President of Church Council, United Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church Adopted' '1ur....
