ResolutionNo, 8166-07 By-Butler, Demro, Dever, FitzGerald, Pmdigan, Seelie. A RESOLUTION proclaiming the week of March 25 March 31, 2007 as Severe Weather Safety Awm'eness Week and urging participation in safety activities; WHEREAS, the CRy of Lakewood joins the Governor of the State of Oh o, and the Board of Cunmfissinners of Cuyahoga County in declaring Severe Weather Safety Awareness Week; and, ~VH~REAS, Cuyahoga County is located in the area of the State of Ohio described as Tornado Alley, wherein the potential hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and proper~y fi'om tornadoes are high; and Cuyahoga County is also located in an area oflhe State of Ohio wherein there is the potential for the loss of life and injm-y due to the perils of floods; m~d, WHEREAS, commm~ity awareness and planning for such threats as tornadoes and/or flooding can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special populatiuns such as in schools, day cares, nursing homes m~d health care facilities; and, WHEILEAS, a Tonmdo Safety Exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, Mm. ch 28~ 2007, at 9:50 a.m, and that such exercise shall be specifically designed for county~wide elementary school and local municipal participation and for testing of the Emergency Broadcast System and other appropriate components of the emergency management; now-, BE II RESOLVED BY THE CI2Y OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' Section 1. That this Council and Mayor join with the Governor of Ohio and Cormnissiuners of Cuyalmga County in declaring March 25 March 31, 2007 as Severe Weather Safety Awareness Week in the City of Lakewood and suppor~ the comity-wide Tornado Safely Exercise that will be conducted on Wedunsday, March 28, 2007 al 9'50 am Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy lhis Resolution to' Mm'ray A Withrow, Manager, Emergency Services, 1255 Euclid Avenue, Suite 102, Cleveland, ©bio 44115-1807 and a that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting Section 3 It is found and determined that ail formal actions of this Council concerning m*d relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in m~ open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resuJted in such fbrmal actiun were in meetings open to the public in complim~ce with all legal requirements Adopted' *?/l~r.~ /~1 90~.
