<br />RESOLUTION NO <br /> <br />8205-07 <br /> <br />BY: Antonio, Butler, Demro, <br />Dever, FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION calling upon the citizens of Lakewood to participate in fire prevention <br />activities at home, work and school, and to heed the message: "It's Fire Prevention Week- <br />Practice Your Escape Plan" as the 2007 Fire Prevention Week theme suggests <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is dedicated to reducing the occurrence of fires and <br />injuries through prevention and education; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, safety from fire is important to both citizens and local firefighters who put <br />their lives on the line with every response to fire; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the National Fire Protection Association has documented through its <br />research that home fires killed roughly eight people every day in the U.S in 2005; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, residents who have planned and practiced a home fire escape plan are more <br />prepared and will therefore be more likely to survive a fire; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Fire is dedicated to the safety oflife and property ITom the <br />devastating effects of fire; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Division of Fire will be teaching life saving messages in <br />elementary schools as part of their public campaign during Fire Prevention Week Now <br />therefore; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor designate and proclaim October 8th - lil\ 2007 <br />as Fire Prevention Week in the City of Lakewood and call upon the citizens of LalÅ“wood to <br />participate in fire prevention activities at home, work and school. <br /> <br />Section 2 That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy this Reso]ution to: Chief Lawrence E.
