<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />8226-08 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Bullock, Btitler, Dever, Madigan, <br />Powers ~ Summers. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION supporting the Cuyahoga County Health & Human Services replacement and <br />reduction levy. <br /> <br />Whereas, this is one of two county levies that support our most vulnerable citizens, it is currently <br />a 4.9 mil levy which will be replaced and reduced to 4.8; <br /> <br />Whereas, the levy revenue provides the base funding for the County's child welfare, public <br />assistance, senior citizen and homeless prevention agencies as well as funding for the <br />MetroHealth Hospital, the local share of foster care, adoption and services to children at risk all <br />corne from the health and human service levies. <br /> <br />Whereas, early childhood programs ensure that our youngest residents receive services and <br />supports necessary to grow up safe, healthy and prepared for school and that as these children are <br />supported in their growth and development, they will continue to thrive as productive future <br />citizens of our region; <br /> <br />Whereas, senior citizens, through the "Options" and "Passport" receive home health care <br />assistance in their own homes which help them maintain their independence and prevent them <br />from needing to move into assisted living or nursing home facilities; <br /> <br />Whereas this levy is a critical piece of our community safety net, available for all of us at any <br />time, <br /> <br />Section 1. That the Members of Lakewood City Council and Mayor enthusiastically endorse <br />proposed replacement and reduction levy. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy <br />of this Resolution to the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners and that a copy of this <br />Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Section 3.
