RESOLUTION NO.. 8277-08 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, Madigan, Powers, Summers. A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least five (5) members elected to Council otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law authorizing and directing the Mayor or his designee, for and on behalf of the City of Lakewood to enter into an Agreement with the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks for the purpose of assisting families with children to apply for the Food Stamp Program, other work support programs, and tax credits using the Ohio Benefit Bank for the time period from August 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services, Division of Youth provides services and programs for the children and families of Lakewood that promote healthy youth development and supports and strengthens families including H2O (Help to Others) and Family to Family System of Care; and WHEREAS, the Family to Family System of Care Community Resource Specialist completed training in the use of the Ohio Benefit Bank application process that creates a more efficient system for families to apply for a variety of supports provided through the State of Ohio and expands capacity for serving Lakewood Families, and WHEREAS, completion of said training established eligibility and subsequent award of the Ohio Benefit Bank Technology Grant, that provides for a laptop, cable, printer and $200.00 in supplies valued at $1,250 to serve at least 20 families during the grant period; and WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members elected thereto determines that this resolution is an emergency measure, and that this resolution shall take effect at the earliest date possible as set forth in ARTICLE III, SECTONS 10 and 13 of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, and that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public property, health and safety, and to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments in that the grant period begins August 1, 2008, Now Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Mayor, or his designee, for and on behalf of the City of Lakewood, is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Bank for the time period from August 1, 2005 through June 30, 2009.
