RESOLUTION NO.. 8277-08 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madigan, Powers, Summers. <br />A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of at least five (5) members elected to Council otherwise, it shall <br />take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law authorizing and <br />directing the Mayor or his designee, for and on behalf of the City of Lakewood to <br />enter into an Agreement with the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks <br />for the purpose of assisting families with children to apply for the Food Stamp <br />Program, other work support programs, and tax credits using the Ohio Benefit <br />Bank for the time period from August 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Human Services, Division of Youth <br />provides services and programs for the children and families of Lakewood that <br />promote healthy youth development and supports and strengthens families <br />including H2O (Help to Others) and Family to Family System of Care; and <br />WHEREAS, the Family to Family System of Care Community <br />Resource Specialist completed training in the use of the Ohio Benefit Bank <br />application process that creates a more efficient system for families to apply for a <br />variety of supports provided through the State of Ohio and expands capacity for <br />serving Lakewood Families, and <br />WHEREAS, completion of said training established eligibility and <br />subsequent award of the Ohio Benefit Bank Technology Grant, that provides for <br />a laptop, cable, printer and $200.00 in supplies valued at $1,250 to serve at least <br />20 families during the grant period; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members <br />elected thereto determines that this resolution is an emergency measure, and <br />that this resolution shall take effect at the earliest date possible as set forth in <br />ARTICLE III, SECTONS 10 and 13 of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF <br />THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, and that it is necessary for the immediate <br />preservation of the public property, health and safety, and to provide for the usual <br />daily operation of municipal departments in that the grant period begins August 1, <br />2008, Now Therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />Section 1. That the Mayor, or his designee, for and on behalf of the <br />City of Lakewood, is hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement <br />with the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Bank for the time period from <br />August 1, 2005 through June 30, 2009. <br />
