RESOLUTION N0. 8308-08 BY: ANTONIO, BULLOCK, BUTLER, DEVER, MADIGAN, POWERS, SUMMERS. A RESULOTUTION to concur with the Lakewood Planning Commission in the adoption of the Detroit Avenue Streetscape Plan. WHEREAS, ARTICLE XII, SECTION 3, Powers and Duties of the Planning Commission, of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD states that it shall be the functicn and duty of the Planning Commission to make and adopt a general plan for the development and improvement of the City, and WHEREAS, ATICLE XII, SECTION 3 of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD further states that the Commission shall also make plans and proposals for specific improvements and project which it deems desirable for the City, and WHEREAS, in July 1993 the Lakewood Community Vision was accepted as the General Plan for the City of Lakewood, and WHEREAS, the Lakewood Community Vision Physical Environment Strategy Working Group recommended that the City work to address land use impacts of automotive uses, develop a Transportation Strategy and coordinate Infrastructure Projects, and WHEREAS, recognizing the need to reorganize the configuration of the Detroit Avenue right-of--way through the City's downtown to create a district with greater cohesion and a more uniform traffic flow and parking strategy in 2006, the Administration, with Council Concurrence; retained the consulting firm City Architecture to develop a plah for the Detroit Avenue streetscape, and WHEREAS, in June 2008, a public hearing was conducted where the Planning Commission took final action to make recommendation that the Detroit Streetscape Plan be accepted and adopted into the City's Community Vision.. A copy of said document dated June 2008 is on file in the Clerk of Council's office.. Now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE. OF OHIO Section 1. That City Council concurs with the Planning Commission in the adoption of the Detroit Avenue Streetscape Plan, June 2008,. as it is consistent with the Community Vision and will serve as the next step toward improvement of this important Lakewood commercial district. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
