RESOLUTION NO: 813-08 BY: ANTONIO, BULLOCK, BUTLER,~UEVER, MADIGAN, POWERS, SUMMERS. A RESOLUTION acknowledging Feliks Magrian for his years of selfless volunteer service to the community as a tax preparer and coordinator of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (V.I.T.A.) Program for Lakewood and the Greater Cleveland Community. WHEREAS; Feliks Magrian served in the Polish Army during World War II and later became a United States citizen and settled in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife Irene where they raised their family; and, WHEREAS; ih 1987, Feliks Magrian became a volunteer with the Internal Revenue Service's V.I.T.A. Program, working his way up from tax preparer to clinic site coordinator, providing hours of free tax preparation assistance to senior citizens and residents most in need; and, WHEREAS; Feliks Magrian worked tirelessly with individuals, groups and organizations to coordinate tax clinics, raise awareness of available resources such as the. Earned Income Tax Credit and brought hope and support to all he served; and, WHEREAS; after over twenty years of providing free service to the community, Feliks Magrian is passing on his coordination and preparation role while continuing to volunteer with colleagues and friends; and BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor commends. Feliks Magrian for his years of selfless community service in coordinating tax preparation clinics, preparing free individual tax returns and increasing. awareness of and filing for the Earned Income Tax Credit among residents. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to Feliks Magrian, 3717 West 104th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44111 and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
