RESOLUTION NO. 8321-08 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, Madigan, Powers, Summers. A RESOLUTION in memory of John "Jack" Simon, a beloved leader in the Lakewood community. WHEREAS, Jack Simon's public life was defined by the belief that involvement in one's community can and should improve the lives of others, and WHEREAS, many groups and organizations greatly benefited from Jack's constant optimism and active participation including The West Side Irish American Club, the Lakewood Democratic Club, the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, Irish Northern Aid and St. James Church, and WHEREAS, Jack Simon, valued friendships and shared freely and openly with all, delighted in the possibilities of the human spirit and was honored to serve his fellow workers as a union steward, leading them by his own example, an exemplary man with a crop of white hair and a heart the size of Ireland, and WHEREAS, some of the children and grandchildren of Jack and Mary Simon continue to call Lakewood home, where they carry on the traditions of Roscommon, cherishing family bonds, relishing friendships, praying the rosary, and honoring Dad or Grandpa Jack's memory especially by changing the oil on their cars themselves; now, therefore, OHIO: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF SECTION 1. That Lakewood City Council and the Mayor honor the life of the late John Simon who passed away October 1, 2008, and to extend deepest sympathy to his family on this profound loss to them and to the greater community. SECTION 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified coy of this Resolution to the family of John Simon and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
