RESOLUTION NO. 8321-08 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madigan, Powers, Summers. <br />A RESOLUTION in memory of John "Jack" Simon, a beloved leader in <br />the Lakewood community. <br />WHEREAS, Jack Simon's public life was defined by the belief that <br />involvement in one's community can and should improve the lives of others, and <br />WHEREAS, many groups and organizations greatly benefited from Jack's <br />constant optimism and active participation including The West Side Irish American Club, <br />the Lakewood Democratic Club, the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, Holy Name <br />Society, the Knights of Columbus, Irish Northern Aid and St. James Church, and <br />WHEREAS, Jack Simon, valued friendships and shared freely and openly <br />with all, delighted in the possibilities of the human spirit and was honored to serve his <br />fellow workers as a union steward, leading them by his own example, an exemplary man <br />with a crop of white hair and a heart the size of Ireland, and <br />WHEREAS, some of the children and grandchildren of Jack and Mary <br />Simon continue to call Lakewood home, where they carry on the traditions of <br />Roscommon, cherishing family bonds, relishing friendships, praying the rosary, and <br />honoring Dad or Grandpa Jack's memory especially by changing the oil on their cars <br />themselves; now, therefore, <br />OHIO: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />SECTION 1. That Lakewood City Council and the Mayor honor the life <br />of the late John Simon who passed away October 1, 2008, and to extend deepest <br />sympathy to his family on this profound loss to them and to the greater community. <br />SECTION 2.
