WHEREAS, the Friends of St. James have appealed to the Vatican the decision to <br />close the parish by proper means and have sought support from the community in their <br />efforts to seek a reversal of the Diocese's decision; and <br />WHEREAS, it is thus fitting and proper that the efforts of St. James Catholic <br />Church and the Friends of St. James be joined and be given public cggnizance and <br />recognition; now, therefore: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. This Council and Mayor extend to St. James Catholic Church and the <br />Friends of St. James Parish their genuine appreciation for St. James' valuable impact on <br />the city of Lakewood and its residents over the last century; and their strong and vocal <br />support for all efforts undertaken to keep the parish open, including appeals to the <br />Vatican and the Diocese of Cleveland. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Friends of St. James Parish, P.O. Box <br />770076, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and any others upon whom the Friends of St. James <br />may wish copies; and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting <br />of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: n,l~,t,,,, ~`J, 'L.pcfi <br />,~ <br />Approved: `~ l 9 <br />/~'~ <br />President <br />
