RESOLUTION NO. 869-09~ <br />BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Dever, Madigan, Powers, Summmers. <br />A RESOLUTION proclaiming October 4, 2009 as Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day <br />in the City of Lakewood. <br />WHEREAS, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day serves to honor firefighters who <br />have lost their lives to save others; and <br />WHEREAS, it is of major importance that we increase our efforts to reduce <br />deaths, injuries, and property losses from fire, and; <br />WHEREAS, we can draw great strength from. this example of selfless service to <br />others; and <br />WHEREAS, firefighters and emergency services personnel play an essential role <br />in the protection of lives and property in our local community; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood pauses to recognize the ultimate sacrifice of <br />all fallen firefighters and their families. Now Therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That this Council and Mayor, will commemorate the sacrifice of <br />America's Firefighters by declaring October 4, 2009 in the City of Lakewood as Fallen <br />Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City of Lakewood flags will be flown at half staff in <br />their honor. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a copy this Resolution to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, <br />Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit <br />Avenue, c/o Dave Dargay, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an <br />open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any <br />
