RESOLUTION N0. 8370-09 BY: Antonio; Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madi an, P veers ers. <br />A RESOLUTION to declare October 5, 2009 thru October ~, 20d9 ~ire`~revention <br />Week. <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood's first responders are dedicated to reducing the occurrence <br />of burn injuries through prevention and protection education; and <br />WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and <br />homes are the locations where people are at greatest risk from fire; and <br />WHEREAS, 180,000 people visit hospital emergency rooms with thermal or scald <br />burns each year in the United States; and <br />WHEREAS, residents who are aware of fire facts and safety rules are more <br />prepared and will therefore more likely avoid scalds and burns; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2009 Fire Prevention Week theme, "Stay Fire Smart! Don't get <br />burned" serves as a reminder to head off burns before they occur; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Division of Fire is joining the National Fire Protection <br />Association in teaching lifesaving messages in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. <br />Now therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby declare October 5, 2009 thru <br />October 9, 2009 Fire Prevention Week. <br />Section 2.
