Deferred 12/21/09
RESOLUTION NO. 8..83-09 Bye Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Madigan,
Powers, Smith, Summers
A RESOLUTION congratulating Rozi's Wine House on its 70s' anniversary.
WHEREAS, Rozi's Wine House, for three-quarters of a century, has been a mainstay in business in our
Lakewood community, and
WHEREAS, Rozi 's has kept its successful business as a family-owned enterprise, started by Maurice
Rosen in 1937 and continuing through each generation of Rossens that includes Warren, Gary and Corey, and
WHEREAS, they have combined continuity in service with loyalty to customers throughout the
Lakewood community, and
WHEREAS, their store has established a solid reputation in our city as experts in their field of local,
national and international wines and beers-including beers unique to Lakewood's diverse population and nationalities,
and
WHEREAS, Rozi's has displayed a dogged determination to "keep on keeping on" with their store, now
at its third location, and having survived even a runaway car crashing into their storefront in the 1950s, and
WHEREAS, Rozi's have opened up their doors to charitable institutions for wine tastings and other fund
raising activities, and
WHEREAS, the Rossens have shown that a family business can survive in these days of highly
competitive markets and big box chain stores, simply by treating their customers with individual respect, knowing they
will return, and
WHEREAS, with its emphasis on pride in the family unit, loyalty to Lakewood, and unique treatment of
their customers it is only fitting and proper that the Rossens be given public cognizance and recognition on the 70`"
anniversary of Rozi's Wine House; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
SECTION 1. That we congratulate them for their commitment to Lakewood and for establishing
themselves as a true Lakewood landmark.
Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward this
Resolution to Rozi's Wine House and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting.
Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the
passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council
and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all
legal requirements.
Adopted: ~ 2r9 p
Approved: ~ r o1.6 (( 0
~-_~~~`~
PRESIDENT
7
C~RK
MAYOR
