RESOLUTION N0. $-c96-io <br />BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Madigan, Powers, Smith, Summers <br />A RESOLUTION to commend Mara E. Manke for her outstanding work in the <br />area of community building, crime prevention and safety advocacy upon her retirement <br />from service as co-captain of the Lakeland Block Club. <br />WHEREAS, Mara Manke and Carol Mason began adoor-to-door campaign in <br />October, 2006 with the goal of strengthening safety, creating afamily-friendly <br />atmosphere, and increasing property values on Lakeland Avenue, and <br />WHEREAS, Mara E. Manke's dedication and leadership played big in every aspect of <br />the Lakeland Block Club from providing administrative support in maintaining and distribufing <br />information, to acting as the Club's representative to businesspersons and city officials alike, and <br />WHEREAS, during Ms. Manke's tenure, the Lakeland Block Club enjoyed many <br />successful events and initiatives such as Lakeland Lights Holiday Party, Diversity <br />picnics and potlucks, as well as the planting of daffodils for the street's beautification, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is only fittirig and proper that public cognizance be given to Mara <br />E. Manke for giving so generously of her time, talents and energies to the Lakeland <br />Block Club; a Club that strengthens Lakewood neighborhoods and inspires us all to build <br />a greater community; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor wish to commend Mara E. Manke for her <br />outstanding leadership and years of dedicated service as the Co-captain of the Lakeland <br />Block Club: <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy this Resolution to Mara E.
