RESOLUTION NO. &s00-10 $y; Antonio, Bullock, Butler,
Madigan, Powers, Smith., Summers.
'` A RESOLUTION to congratulate The Root Cafe and its community of owners,
employees, and customers, upon the opening of their new and expanded store.
WHEREAS, the Root Cafe has quickly become a gathering. place for people from
different outposts, different backgrounds, different viewpoints, but all with the same goal of
recognizing our commonality in a comfortable, hospitable and supremely aromatic environment,
and
WHEREAS, the Root Cafe serves as a model for future renovators on how to incorporate
historic, green, and artistic elements into a project, and
WHEREAS, the Root Cafe has become the ideal place to be for all generations of all
ages-whether discussing new ideas or old times, future plans or past practice, lofty ideals or
short-term goals, and
WHEREAS, the owners Julie Hutchison and Bobby Breitenstein in providing such a
venue, have become the great nurturers of Lakewood's diverse community of poets, musicians,
fair trade coffee and herbal tea drinkers, pundits, procrastinators, political activists, craftspeople,
artisans and everyday people, and
WHEREAS, these small businesses embody the true entrepreneurial spirit--devoid of the
impersonal nature of huge corporate chains, instead owned and operated by two Lakewoodites
who know and love our city and have invested not only their time and resources, but their
emotions and heart into their project; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
Section I That this Council and Mayor hereby commend the efforts put forth by Julie
Hutchison and Bobby Breitenstein, their employees, craftpersons, artisans, and their family of
customers for the wonderful gift they have made to the community in opening the Root Cafe.
Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a
certified copy of this Resolution to Julie Hutchison and Bobby Breitenstein and that a copy of
this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
Adopted: ~ ~j~~ ~. y ~ b
Approved: off,/ 3(/l7
--r
