RESOLUTION NO.: 8407-10 gy; Antnio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Madigan, Powers, Smith, Summers. <br />A resolution to support Cuyahoga County Health and Human Services 2.9 <br />mill renewal. <br />WHEREAS, this is one of two county levies that support our most <br />vulnerable citizens; <br />WHEREAS, the levy is currently at 2.9 mills and up for renewal May 4, <br />2010, is not a tax increase; <br />WHEREAS, the levy revenue provides the base funding for the County's <br />child welfare, public assistance, senior citizen, homeless prevention agencies, <br />behavioral health services as well as funding for the MetroHealth Medical Center, <br />the local share of foster care, adoption and services to children at risk; <br />WHEREAS, early childhood programs ensure that our youngest residents <br />receive services and supports necessary to grow up safe, healthy and prepared <br />for school and that as these children are supported in their growth and <br />development, they will continue to thrive as productive citizens of our region; <br />WHEREAS, this levy is a critical piece of our community safety net, <br />available for all of us at any time. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br />Section 1 That this council and Mayor extend to Cuyahoga Health and <br />Human Services their support for the 2.9 mill renewal in order to continue critical <br />services throughout the county for our most vulnerable citizens, <br />Section 2 That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Anita Gray, County <br />Action Committee, 1 Bratenahl Place, Suite 1302, Bratenahl, Ohio 4410$, and <br />that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3.
