RESOLUTION NO. 8419-10 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Madigan, Powers, Smith, Summers. A Resolution authorizing the donation of a surplus fire alarm box to the Lakewood members of the International Association of Firefighters to be raffled, with the proceeds to benefit the union members in their fundraising efforts to allow members of the Lakewood Division of Fire to participate in the Firefighter Combat Challenge. WHEREAS, the Gamewell System was removed from service in the City of Lakewood in April, 2010, resulting in a surplus of fire alarm boxes; and WHEREAS, the Firefighter Combat Challenge seeks to encourage firefighter fitness and demonstrate the profession's rigors to the public; and WHEREAS, the Firefighter Combat Challenge competition will be held in Kissimmee, Florida and require significant funding in order to participate; and WHEREAS, a fire alarm box will be raffled, with the proceeds to benefit the Lakewood Firefighters Union (Loca1382) in these fundraising efforts. Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood hereby approves the donation of a surplus fire alarm box to the Lakewood members of the International Association of Firefighters to be raffled, with the proceeds to benefit the Lakewood union members in their fundraising efforts to allow members of the Lakewood Division of Fire to participate in the Firefighter Combat Challenge. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal actions were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements.
