RESOLUTION N0. 8440-10 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Madigan, Powers, Smith., Summers. A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor as the Director of Public Safety to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Attorney General to accept and expend funds for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program in the amount of $75,857 to continue to educate young people of the City of Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.i2.E.) program since 1990; and WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. programs in all elementary and middle schools within the City; and WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young people of the Ciry through education as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating from the D.A.R.E. program increases annually; and WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has received and award in the amount of $75,857 for the continued operation of the D.A.R.E. program from the Ohio Attorney General's office. Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Mayor as the Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Attorney General to accept and expend funds for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program in the amount of $75,857. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal actions were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements.
