RESOLUTION N0. 8440-10 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Madigan, Powers, Smith., Summers. <br />A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor as the Director of Public Safety to enter into an <br />agreement with the Ohio Attorney General to accept and expend funds for the City's Drug <br />Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program in the amount of $75,857 to continue to <br />educate young people of the City of Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Education (D.A.i2.E.) program since 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. programs in all elementary and <br />middle schools within the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young people of the <br />Ciry through education as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and <br />WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating from the D.A.R.E. <br />program increases annually; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has received and award in the amount of $75,857 for <br />the continued operation of the D.A.R.E. program from the Ohio Attorney General's office. Now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That the Mayor as the Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized to <br />enter into an agreement with the Ohio Attorney General to accept and expend funds for the <br />City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program in the amount of $75,857. <br />Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of <br />this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal actions were in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: ~o/O <br />Approved: <br />~'~ g <br />President <br />
