RESOLUTION N0. 8443-10 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Madigan, Bmith, Summers. <br />A RESOLUTION to declare October 4, 2010 thru October 9, 2010 Fire Prevention Week. <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood's first responders are dedicated to reducing the occurrence of <br />burn injuries through prevention and protection education; and <br />WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and homes <br />are the locations where people are at greatest risk from fire; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Prevention Bureau recognized the opportunity to get their <br />message across to children through Fire Prevention Week programs in the shcools; and <br />WHEREAS, residents who are aware of fire facts and safety rules are more likely to be <br />prepared; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2010 Fire Prevention Week theme, "Smoke Alarms: A sound you can live <br />with" serves as a reminder of the importance of using and maintaining smoke alarms; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Division of Fire is joining the Nafional Fire Protection <br />Association in teaching lifesaving messages in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week. Now <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby declare October 4, 2010 thru <br />October 8, 2010 Fire Prevention Week. <br />Section 2.
