RESOLUTION N0. 8444-10 <br />BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Madigan, Smith, Summers. <br />A RESOLUTION proclaiming October 3, 2010 as Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day <br />in the City of Lakewood. <br />WHEREAS, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day serves to honor firefighters who have <br />lost their lives to save others; and <br />WHEREAS, it is of major importance that we increase our efforts to reduce <br />deaths, injuries, and property losses from fire; and <br />WHEREAS, firefighters and emergency services personnel play an essential role <br />in the protection of lives and property in our local community; and <br />WHEREAS, these individuals put their lives on the line every day for out local <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood pauses to recognize the ultimate sacrifice of all <br />fallen firefighters and their families. Now Therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, will. commemorate the sacrifice of <br />America's Firefighters by declaring October 3, 2010 in the City of Lakewood as Fallen <br />Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City of Lakewood flags will be flown at half staff <br />in their honor. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed <br />to forward a copy this Resolution to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, Local <br />#382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit Avenue, <br />c/o Dave Dargay, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon <br />the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning. and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an <br />open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any <br />
