<br />RESOLUTION NO. 8457-10 BYc Antonio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Madigan, Powers, Smith, Summers. <br />A RESOLUTION to commend Chief Lawrence Mroz for his more than 37 years of devoted <br />public service as a member of the Division of Fire of fhe City of Lakewood. <br />WHEREAS, dedicated to the enhancement of firefighting, Chief Mroz pored over laws <br />and codes, audited conferences and conventions, sought advice and counsel from those under his command <br />to secure the best practices in fire prevenfion, earning him the respect of his peers, his superiors and the <br />rank and file, and <br />WHEREAS, in spite of dealing with a myriad of agencies, officials, departments, <br />including county, state and federal entities Chief Mroz served with courtesy and patience and always with a <br />polite demeanor, and <br />WHEREAS, Fire Chief Lawrence Mroz has displayed a burning desue to educate the <br />citizenly on the importance of fire prevention and life-saving techniques by introducing Lakewoodites to <br />automated external defibrillators and the Start-A-Heart Program, and initiating the first Community <br />Emergency Response Team on the West Shore, and <br />WHEREAS, he supervised the assimilation of the Lakewood Hospital pazamedics with the <br />Fire Department, and <br />WHEREAS, he has blazed the trail, bringing innovative improvements in the fire department <br />including an additional appazatus bay; overseeing reconstruction of Station #1 on Madison Avenue at <br />Warren; utilizing the very first computers for the Department; and bringing laptops into service for our <br />medical squads, and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief has climbed the turntable ladder of success in his firefighting career <br />having completed 37 plus yeazs with the Depamnent, during which he risked his life in service to <br />Lakewood citizens, and we add <br />WHEREAS; lastly but equally important, our handsome and nimble chief illustrated uncanny <br />skill in the line of duty for never having once singed his trademark mustache! Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1-, That this Council and Mayor wish Lawrence Mroz continued years of <br />health, happiness and prosperity in his retirement, and offer our thanks for his service on behalf of the <br />citizens of Lakewood. <br />SECTION 2.
