R2SOIUtIOn NO: 8495-11 By: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, Nowlin, Powers, Smith. A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor, as Director of Public Safety and on behalf of the City of Lakewood, to proclaim May 15 - 20, 2011 as Emergency Medical Services Week: WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, educators, administrators and others; and WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and WHEREAS, this year's theme - "EMS: Everyday Heroes" - focuses on those who provide lifesaving care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to the Lakewood Community; and WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department is joining with the American Red Cross to hold a blood drive at Fire Station #1 on Tuesday, May 17`h from 1 - 6 PM, to encourage residents to become heroes too, and help save lives. Now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor declare May 15-20, 2011 as Emergency Medical Services Week in the City of Lakewood. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy this Resolution to: Chief Scott Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio and a that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
