RESOLUTION NO. $616-12 By. Anderson, Bullock, .Tunis, <br />Madigan, Nowlin, Powers, Smith. <br />A Resolution recognizing and commending the men and women in the Police, Fire <br />and Public Works Departments of the City of Lakewood for their exemplary public service <br />that went above and beyond their normal duties over the many days that Lakewood endured <br />hardships as a result of Superstorm Sandy. <br />WHEREAS, the residents of Lakewood endured significant hardships such as <br />damaged property, obstructed roads, loss of electric power and heat in the wake of <br />Superstorm Sandy throughout the week of October 29`h, 2012, and <br />WHEREAS, these hardships resulted in a significant increase in the demand for city <br />services from the Lakewood Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments upon which <br />residents rely in times of need, and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments responded <br />to the needs of residents, demonstrating dedication and commitment to their jobs and to our <br />community, and <br />WHEREAS, the efforts of the Lakewood Police, Fire, and Public Works <br />Departments helped to minimize the impact of the storm on the functioning of our City's <br />services and the day-to-day lives of residents; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council hereby commends the Police, Fire and Public Works <br />Departments for their exemplary public service in response to Superstorm Sandy. <br />Section 2.
