A RESOLUTION to honor St. Edward High School Wrestling Team on capturing their 28th and 29th state wrestling crown ( The First Annual OHSAA Dual Meet State Championship and the 76th Annual OHSAA Wrestling Individual Tournament) this season. WHEREAS, it has become common to refer to Lakewood's St. Edward High School as the "Home of Champions" in part due to a successful wrestling program which has the state record for: total number of state qualifiers (375), total number of state placers (281), total number of state champions (102), and total number of team championships (29), and WHEREAS, The team clinched the title with eight seniors leading the way: Dean Heil captured his 4th State Championship, Domenic Abounader earned his 3rd State Championship, Markus Scheidel placed second, Collin Heffernan and Edgar Bright placed third, Chance Driscoll placed sixth, and both Sal Corrao and Robbie Rogers contributed to the team total with their victories. WHEREAS, Lakewood's St. Edward High School has brought distinction and honor to this community for its achievements in athletics, for outstanding academic; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. On behalf of the residents of Lakewood, the Mayor and this Council extend to the Lakewood's St. Edward High School Wrestling Team congratulations for its outstanding achievements during the 2012 -2013 high school wrestling season. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be, and is hereby authorized to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Lakewood's St. Edward High School Eagles Wrestling Team c/o Coach, Urbas; St.Edward High School, and that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
