REFERRED TO THE FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />4/15/13. <br />RESOLUTION NO: 8652 -13 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, <br />Madigan, Nowlin, Powers, Smith. <br />A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the <br />affirm <br />ativc vote of at least five (5) members of Council, or otherwise to take <br />effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law amending the <br />pick -up of contributions by the employees who are members of the Ohio <br />Police and Fire Pension Fund, through payroll reduction. <br />WHEREAS, the eligible employees of the Lakewood Fire Department <br />participate in the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund (OP &F); and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has previously adopted a pick -up of the ten percent <br />(10 %) mandatory contributions required under Section 742.31 of the Ohio <br />Revised Code for participating employees of the Lakewood Fire Department <br />who are members of the OP & F; and <br />�Vl IEREAS, OP &F has adopted new mandatory contributions beginning July <br />1, 2013 of ten and three quarters percent (10.75 %) required under Section <br />742.31 of the Ohio Revised Code for participating employees of the <br />Lakewood Fire Department who are members of the OP & F; and <br />WHEREAS, OP &F has adopted new mandatory contributions beginning ,tiny <br />1, 2014 of eleven and one half percent (11.5 %) required under Section 742.31 <br />of the Ohio Revised Code for participating employees of the Lakewood Fire <br />Department who are members of the OP & F; and <br />WHEREAS, OP &F has adopted new mandatory contributions beginning July <br />I, 2015 of twelve and one quarter percent (12.25 %) required wider Secti n <br />742.31 of the Ohio Revised Code for participating employees of I <br />Lakewood Fire Department who are members of the OP & F; and <br />WHEREAS, OP &F has adopted new procedures for reporting picked up <br />contributions in order to properly prepare 1099 -R forms for its members; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to reaffirm and amend and restate its prior <br />resolution in order to continue the pick -tip under the new procedures; and <br />WI IEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) of its members <br />determines that this resolution is all emergency measure, and that this <br />resolution shall take effect at the earliest date possible as set forth in <br />Article III, Sections 10 and 13 of the Second Amended Charter of the City <br />of Lakewood, and that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the <br />
