RESOLUTION NO. 8676 -13 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, <br />Nowlin, Powers, Smith. <br />A RESOLUTION to recognize the "Lakewood Car Kulture Show" as an important <br />community event held annually in the City of Lakewood and to thank Jerry Koenigsmark <br />for his ongoing contributions to our City. <br />WHEREAS, in 2003, several Lakewood residents including Jerry Koenigsmark <br />created an event known as the Madison Village Car Kulture Show, which soon became <br />known as the Lakewood Car Kulture Show, to showcase 1972 and older hot rods, <br />customs, gassers, classics, and vintage race cars along with original and traditional <br />chopper and bobber style motorcycles; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Car Kulture Show has grown and expanded over the <br />years to become an incredibly successful annual event, serving as a highlight of the <br />summer in Lakewood for many residents and visitors; and <br />WHEREAS, the first Lakewood Car Kulture Show featured a few dozen vehicles <br />but today hosts as many as 510 vehicles with more than a hundred others turned away <br />for lack of space; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Car Kulture Show contributes significantly to our local <br />economy by attracting thousands of visitors annually; and <br />WHEREAS, Jerry and Ruth Koenigsmark, along with their sons Jerry and <br />Charley, continue to lead the Lakewood Car Kulture Show into a second decade of <br />providing education and entertainment to car enthusiasts in Lakewood and throughout <br />the nation; and <br />WHEREAS, such dedication to establishing a successful community event <br />should be recognized in a proper and fitting manner; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br />OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That Lakewood City Council officially recognizes the "Lakewood Car <br />Kulture Shovel' as an important community event and further that this Council extends <br />sincere thanks to Jerry Koenigsmark for his ongoing contributions to our City. <br />Section 2.
