RESOLUTIONNO. 8677 -13 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, <br />Nowlin, Power3, <br />A RESOLUTION calling upon the citizens of Lakewood to join the Lakewood Fire De- <br />partment in celebrating National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day on Sunday, October 6, 2013. <br />WHEREAS, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day serves to honor firefighters who lost their <br />lives in the line of duty over the past year; and <br />WHEREAS, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day is celebrated nationally, on the first Sun- <br />day of October each year; and <br />WHEREAS, firefighters play an essential role in the protection of life and property of the <br />Lakewood community; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood will pause to recognize the ultimate sacrifice of all <br />fallen firefighters and their families, at a brief ceremony on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at noon at <br />Fire Station #1; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. This Council and Mayor designate and proclaim Sunday, October 6, 2013, as <br />Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day in the City of Lakewood and call upon the citizens of Lake- <br />wood to participate in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward <br />a copy of this Resolution to Chief Scott K. Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, <br />Lakewood, Ohio and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3.
