RESOLUTION NO. 8723 -14 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, <br />Madigan, Marx, Nowlin, O'Leary. <br />A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor, as Director of Public Safety and on behalf of <br />the City of Lakewood, to proclaim March 2 - 8, 2014, as Severe Weather Awareness Week. <br />WHEREAS, every state in the U.S. has experienced tornadoes and severe weather; and <br />WHEREAS, knowing the most common weather hazards in your area, your vulnerabil- <br />ity, and what actions you should take can save your life and others; and <br />WHEREAS, planning for such threats as tornadoes can result in the prevention of injury, <br />particularly in populations at schools; and <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood's Outdoor Early Warning Siren will sound at 9:50 a.m. on <br />Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in conjunction with the statewide tornado drill, as an exercise spe- <br />cifically designed to test the Emergency Alert System and other appropriate components of <br />emergency management; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department will observe tornado drills on March 5, <br />2014, in as many schools as possible; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. This Council and Mayor declare March 2 -8, 2014, as Severe Weather Aware- <br />ness Week in the City of Lakewood. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward <br />a copy this Resolution to: Chief Scott Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, <br />Lakewood, Ohio and a that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: (v\c ct, g � -Lo t y <br />In <br />Approved: � Z Z'(� <br />President <br />
