RESOLUTION NO. 8723 -14 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, Marx, Nowlin, O'Leary. A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor, as Director of Public Safety and on behalf of the City of Lakewood, to proclaim March 2 - 8, 2014, as Severe Weather Awareness Week. WHEREAS, every state in the U.S. has experienced tornadoes and severe weather; and WHEREAS, knowing the most common weather hazards in your area, your vulnerabil- ity, and what actions you should take can save your life and others; and WHEREAS, planning for such threats as tornadoes can result in the prevention of injury, particularly in populations at schools; and WHEREAS, Lakewood's Outdoor Early Warning Siren will sound at 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in conjunction with the statewide tornado drill, as an exercise spe- cifically designed to test the Emergency Alert System and other appropriate components of emergency management; and WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department will observe tornado drills on March 5, 2014, in as many schools as possible; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: Section 1. This Council and Mayor declare March 2 -8, 2014, as Severe Weather Aware- ness Week in the City of Lakewood. Section 2. The Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy this Resolution to: Chief Scott Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio and a that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
