RESOLUTION NO. 8737 -14 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, <br />Madigan, Marx, Nowlin, O'Leary. <br />A RESOLUTION to amend the appointing authority for the Lakewood Recreation Task <br />Force and to increase the number of members of the task force to nine. <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Recreation Task Force was created by Resolution No. 8696- <br />13 on March 18, 2014; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable to increase the number of members of the <br />Lakewood Recreation Task Force from seven to nine in order to draw appointees from the <br />broadest spectrum of committed residents possible; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Lakewood City Schools has chosen not to ap- <br />point any members to or participate in the task force, thus requiring an amendment to the ap- <br />pointing authority language; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Constitution of the State of Ohio and the Ohio Revised <br />Code, municipalities have the power of local self - government, and the power to enact laws that <br />are for the health, safety, welfare, comfort and peace of the citizens of the municipality; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. The Lakewood Recreation Task Force, established by Resolution No. 8696 -13, <br />shall be composed of nine members, five of whom shall be appointed by Council and four of <br />whom shall be appointed by the Mayor. <br />Section 2. It is contemplated that the task force shall make a report to Council and the <br />Mayor within six months of its first meeting. <br />Section 3. All other provisions of Resolution No. 8696 -13 not inconsistent with this reso- <br />lution remain in full force and effect. <br />Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberation of the Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: <br />Approved: �v! y <br />
