RESOLUTION NO. 8866 -16 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Litten, Marx, Nowlin, <br />O'Leary, O'Malley. <br />A Resolution to commemorate the generous contributions of time and capital put forth by the <br />Keep Lakewood Beautiful Board and its volunteers to initiate the planting of a new birch grove <br />in Lakewood Park. <br />WHEREAS, for over 30 years, volunteers and experts from Keep Lakewood Beautiful <br />(KLB) have worked together to beautify the City and to bring attention to important <br />environmental issues impacting residents; and <br />WHEREAS, Maureen Kermode was a long -time member and Treasurer of Keep <br />Lakewood Beautiful who enthusiastically contributed her time and talents to the organization; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, after the tragic and unexpected passing of Ms. Kermode, Keep Lakewood <br />Beautiful received numerous donations in her memory; and <br />WHEREAS, Keep Lakewood Beautiful decided that planting a new grove of birch trees <br />in Lakewood Park would appropriately honor the memory of Ms. Kermode while at the same <br />time celebrate all KLB members, both past and present; and <br />WHEREAS, On Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. Keep Lakewood Beautiful will hold <br />a public ceremony to dedicate the new birch grove. All are encouraged to attend; Now, therefore: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council hereby commends Keep Lakewood Beautiful for its <br />excellent work to initiate, design, and plan the planting of a new birch grove in Lakewood Park <br />to be enjoyed by all residents and visitors. <br />Section 2. That this Council hereby expresses condolences to the family and friends of <br />Maureen Kermode. May this new natural habitat bring you peace and a place to honor her <br />memory. <br />Section 3.
