RESOLUTION NO. 8900 -16 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Nowlin, <br />O'Leary, O'Malley. <br />A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at <br />least five members of council, or otherwise to take effect at the earliest period allowed by law, <br />authorizing the Mayor or his designee to apply, in collaboration with the Beck Center/West End <br />District, to the Cuyahoga County Supplemental Grant Program for a $50,000 grant to be used for <br />signage and wayfinding in accordance with the City of Lakewood's strategic plan. <br />WHEREAS, on November 3, 2016 both the Beck Center/West End District and Lakewood <br />Alive presented concepts for use of grant funds under the 2017 Cuyahoga County Supplemental <br />Grant Program before the Lakewood Planning Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, both projects provide for sigriage and wayfinding within different areas of the <br />City of Lakewood; and <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood would like to collaborate with Beck Center/West End District to <br />apply for the Cuyahoga County Supplemental Grant Program Funds and they do not qualify on their <br />own; and <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood Alive will be submitting a separate application for finds for its <br />project; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five of its members determines that this <br />resolution is an emergency measure, and that this resolution shall take effect at the earliest date <br />possible as set forth in Article III, Sections 10 and 13 of the Second Amended Charter of the City of <br />Lakewood, and that it is necessary to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments <br />in that the Beck Center/West End District must submit formal support of its application no later <br />than December 24, 2016; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. The Mayor of the City of Lakewood, or his designee, is hereby authorized to <br />prepare and submit an application, in collaboration with the Beck Center/West End District, to the <br />Cuyahoga County Supplemental Grant Program for a $50,000 grant to be used for signage and <br />wayfinding in accordance with the City of Lakewood's strategic plan. <br />Section 2. The Mayor, the Director of Public Works, Director of Law and the Director of <br />Finance for the City of Lakewood are authorized to enter into any agreements as may be necessary <br />and appropriate for obtaining this financial assistance. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and <br />relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this council, and that <br />
