REFERRED TO THE FINANCE COMMITTEE 1215/16.1 <br />Anderson, Bullock, Litten, <br />RESOLUTIONNO. 8904 -16 BZ'9AjUk6Ai , O'Leary, <br />O'Malley. <br />A Resolution to formally establish certain Council priorities for the City of Lakewood's 2017 <br />budget. <br />WHEREAS, the Finance Committee held a series of hearings in 2016 to engage <br />Councilmembers in the budget process and provide the opportunity to identify priorities; and <br />WHEREAS, in deliberating upon proposed priorities, Councilmembers evaluated them <br />using criteria such as alignment with City goals, achievability, and the number of residents <br />benefrtted, among many others; and <br />WHEREAS, by passage of Resolution 8886 -16 on October 3, 2016, Council expressed <br />preliminary support for the priorities included therein; and <br />WHEREAS, since that time, those priorities have been incorporated into the 2017 <br />Comprehensive Budget Document and accompanying budget ordinances prepared by the <br />Administration; and <br />WHEREAS, Council would like to affirm certain of those preliminary priorities as final, <br />to be implemented by the City in or commencing in Fiscal Year 2017; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Constitution of the State of Ohio and the Ohio Revised <br />Code, municipalities have the power of local self - government, and the power to enact laws that <br />are for health, safety, and welfare; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council hereby establishes as among its priorities for the 2017 Fiscal <br />Year those policies, projects, and initiatives included in the attachment(s). <br />Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all <br />deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal actions <br />were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section <br />121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Section 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified <br />copy of this resolution to the Mayor and a copy of this Resolution shall be spread upon the <br />minutes of this meeting. <br />
