Provide a narrative description of your idea in 250 words or less. Attach a separate sheet <br />if necessary: This proposal calls for the purchase and placement of four recycling receptacles in <br />Lakewood Park to provide an opportunity for park visitors to properly dispose of recyclables. <br />2. Briefly explain how this will benefit the community: <br />The City experiences financial benefits every time waste is diverted from trash to recycling. <br />There are additional long -term environment benefits to be experienced by reducing landfill use <br />and promoting recycling. <br />3. Estimated expense (provide a range): $1,000 or less for purchase of receptacles. <br />4. If applicable, summarize any proposals or discussions from the past that are related to <br />this priority. In the past the City has supported several recycling receptacles in the commercial <br />corridors. Over the years, most of these have been removed due to the fact that they were being <br />regularly contaminated by trash. A few still remain. However, the City has never taken the step <br />of putting recycling receptacles in the parks. <br />5. Briefly describe any preliminary discussions you have had with colleagues, the <br />administration and /or relevant department directors about this priority, if applicable. <br />Public Works was included in discussions leading up to the development of this proposal. <br />Mal <br />
