RESOLUTION NO. 8951 -17 BY. Anderson, Bullock, Litten, Marx, <br />Nowlin, O'Leary, O'Malley. <br />A RESOLUTION calling upon the citizens of Lakewood to join the Lakewood Fire <br />Department in celebrating National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day on Sunday, October 8, <br />2017. <br />WHEREAS, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day serves to honor firefighters who lost their <br />lives in the line of duty of the past year, and <br />WHEREAS, firefighters play an essential role in the protection of life and property of the <br />Lakewood community; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood will pause to recognize the ultimate sacrifice of all <br />fallen firefighters and their families, at a brief ceremony on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at noon at <br />fire Station 1; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. This Council and Mayor designate and proclaim Sunday, October 8, 2017 as <br />National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day in the City of Lakewood and call upon the citizens of <br />Lakewood to participate in fire prevention activities at home. <br />Section 2. The Cleric of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward <br />a copy of this Resolution to Chief Scott K. Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, <br />Lakewood, Ohio and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3.
