RESOLUTION NO. 8889 -18 BY: Anderson, Bullock, George, Litten, O'Leary, O'Malley, Rader. A RESOLUTION to recognize and thank Mike Belsito of for his seven years of service as Lakewood's first Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR). WHEREAS, Startup Lakewood was established in 2011 to assist entrepreneurs in business creation, maintenance and expansion; and WHEREAS, the goal of the FIR is to compliment Lakewood's efforts to create a culture of entrepreneurship that yields small, growing enterprises in the city to maintain connections to resources that strengthen entrepreneurship. WHEREAS, since 2011, Mike has served thousands of entrepreneurs by way of organizing events, connecting entrepreneurs to resources, and being a mentor to entrepreneurs in and around Lakewood; and WHEREAS, Startup Lakewood created the annual business pitch competition, the Ideation Challenge, to curate great business ideas in Lakewood; and WHEREAS, Mike's experience as a successful entrepreneur, college professor, podcast creator, Lakewood resident, and most importantly a compassionate mentor has made a huge impact on our community; and WHEREAS, Mike has built the strong foundation for Startup Lakewood, and has set up the organization to grow for many years to come; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: Section 1. The Mayor and Council of the City of Lakewood hereby recognize the efforts and successes of Mike Belsito and recognize the positive impact he has had and will continue to have on the City of Lakewood. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements.
