RESOLUTION NO. 9023 -18 <br />BY: Anderson, Bullock, George <br />Litten, O'Leary, O'Malley,Rader <br />A RESOLUTION calling upon the citizens of Lakewood to join the Lakewood Fire <br />Department in celebrating National Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day on Sunday, October 7, <br />2018. <br />WHEREAS, Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day 2018 will honor 95 firefighters across the <br />nation who died in the line of duty during the past year and during previous years; and <br />WHEREAS, every day, the members of the Lakewood Fire Department put their lives in <br />jeopardy in order to protect and safeguard life and property from fire or hazardous conditions <br />and to provide emergency medical treatment to those in need; and <br />WHEREAS, on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at noon at Fire Station 1, the City of Lakewood <br />will pause to recognize the ultimate sacrifice of fallen firefighters as well as to celebrate the <br />swearing in of the City's newest firefighters who will carry on their legacy of courageous <br />service; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. This Council and Mayor designate and proclaim Sunday, October 7, 2018 as <br />Firefighter Memorial Day in the City of Lakewood and call upon the citizens of Lakewood to <br />participate in fire prevention activities at home. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy <br />of this Resolution to Chief Scott K. Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, <br />Lakewood, Ohio and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: loll 101 %i <br />Approved: (-1(,4 3 �r <br />
