Anderson, Bullock, George, Litten,, <br />O'Leary, O'Malley, Rader <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9045 -18 BY: <br />A RESOLUTION to recognize the Lakewood restaurant community, led by Matt Fish, <br />owner and founder of Melt Bar and Grilled, for joining together for End Hunger in Lakewood <br />Day on November 10, 2018. <br />WHEREAS, approximately 14% of Lakewood's population lives at or below the poverty <br />line, struggling to afford basic necessities including food, and; <br />WHEREAS, since 1982 the Lakewood Community Services Center has sought to <br />empower and assist Lakewood's low- income population with a variety of resources including its <br />emergency food pantry, door -to -door senior food delivery, and school -age summer lunch <br />programs to help alleviate hunger and food insecurity, and; <br />WHEREAS, on November 10, 2018, 34 Lakewood restaurants and food retailers joined <br />together for End Hunger in Lakewood Day, whereby 10% of each participants' food sales were <br />donated to LCSC's food service programs, and; <br />WHEREAS, End Hunger in Lakewood Day was successful in raising $10,800 for LCSC <br />and for raising awareness among the community about the struggles of those suffering from of <br />hunger and food insecurity here in Lakewood. Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council does hereby express appreciation to the Lakewood <br />restaurants that participated in End Hunger in Lakewood Day and generously donated to the <br />Lakewood Community Services Center on November 10, 2018. <br />Section 2. That this Council does hereby express appreciation to Matt Fish, owner and <br />founder of Melt Bar and Grilled and Trish Rooney, Executive Director of the Lakewood <br />Community Services Center for their leadership in initiating and organizing End Hunger in <br />Lakewood Day. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: 1 1-1111 <br />1 <br />Approved: �- <br />
