Population Change <br />Cuyahoga County's population is declining. It peaked around 1970 at 1.7 million residents. <br />Recent population change shows that the county's population declined by approximately 30,770 <br />residents or 2.4% between 2010 and 2016. It is projected to decrease by an additional 75,604 <br />residents or 6.2% during the 2019-2033 planning period — ranging from approximately 3,486 ' <br />5,5GG residents annually orO.4% per year. <br />4. Implications for Solid Waste Management <br />Based on the population projections, the District does not foresee any major implications <br />related to managing solid waste and providing recycling programs during the planning period. <br />K. Profile of Commercial and Institutional Sector <br />There are approximately 47,O00commercial businesses and institutions in Cuyahoga County. <br />The top employers include the health cane, insurance and financial industries, along with <br />universities and the public sector. Table 2.3 lists the largest employers in the commercial and <br />institutional sector. <br />Healthcare is the largest employer inCuyahoga County with more than 120,000healthcare <br />professionals.
