Solid Waste Generated in Reference Year (20I6) <br />Table 3-1 and Figure 3'l present Cuyahoga County's waste generation for the reference year. <br />Table 3-1: Total Solid Waste Generated |nthe Reference Year <br />Figure 3-l: Waste Generation bV Sector -2OlG <br />2- Residential/Commercial (R/C) Waste Generated |nReference Year <br />In 2016 2,528,J29 total tons of solid waste was generated from residential and commercial <br />sources \n Cuyahoga County. Waste generation is the sum of tons |andfiUed, tons recycled, and <br />tons composed. This amounts to a residential/commercial waste generation rate of 6.78 <br />pounds per person per day which is slightly higher than the statewide average of 6.09 PPD. Solid <br />waste generated from this sector accounts for 57% of all waste produced in Cuyahoga County. <br />2. Industrial Waste Generated |nReference Year <br />In 2016, 1,156,316 total tons of waste was generated from industrial sources in Cuyahoga <br />County. Solid waste generated from this sector accounts for 43% of all waste produced in <br />Cuyahoga County. <br />3' Excluded Waste Generated |n Reference Year <br />Excluded waste includes materials that are excluded from the definition of solid waste inDRC <br />3734.01(E). This includes slag, uncontaminated earth, non-toxic fly ash, spent non-toxic foundry <br />sand, and materials from mining operations. In 2016., excluded waste represented less than 10% <br />of all waste generated therefore the District did not have to account for this in its solid waste <br />plan according to Ohio EPA's Plan Format. <br />
