Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management Plan Update (December 2018) Chapter 5: Waste Reduction <br />and Recycling <br />following tools conduct residential recycling outreach during the planning period: See Appendix L <br />for detailed descriptions. <br />• Marketing, media relations and advertising <br />• Talking Trash e- newsletter <br />• Printed materials — brochures, etc. <br />• Presentations and tabling events <br />• Recycling hotline <br />Outreach - Children, Educators and Schools <br />Children's Education Program <br />The District will continue to have an education specialist dedicated to student outreach. Programs <br />include classroom presentations and activities, contests, summer camp and scout programs. In <br />addition, the District will continue to produce its Mission Recycle student newspaper for grades K -4. <br />Educator Resources and Workshops <br />The District will continue to provide various tools and resources for educators including lesson plans, <br />creative ideas, activities and downloadable worksheets. It will also distribute a bi- monthly e- <br />newsletter - Recycling Education Resources which has 900 subscribers. <br />School Administrators and Support Staff <br />The District will use Linkedln to reach school administrators with programming about starting a <br />recycling program at school and will offer waste audits and assistance with implementing a recycling <br />or composting program. Schools can also apply for the District's Recycling Container Grant to <br />purchase recycling containers. <br />Outreach - Commercial /Institutional Sector Outreach and Education <br />The District will continue to have a Business Recycling Specialist dedicated to providing waste <br />reduction and recycling assistance to the commercial and institutional sectors. This includes <br />nonprofit organizations, institutions and government offices; commercial business and multi - family <br />property owners; non - residential quarters; special event /sports venues, and transportation centers. <br />Programming includes presentations, workshops, marketing, Linkedln page and blog. <br />Outreach — Public Officials and Municipalities <br />The District will continue its outreach to local officials and city service departments through its <br />Annual Report, Residential Recycling Report Trash Talk Lunch seminars and Trash Heap newsletter. <br />In addition, the District may conduct solid waste facility tours such as MRF's and landfill tours. <br />5 -9 <br />052 <br />
