Anderson, Bullock, George, Litten, O'Leary, <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019-18 BY: O'Malley, Rader <br />A RESOLUTION to commend Mayor Michael P. Summers for his exemplary public service as <br />Mayor of Lakewood. <br />WHEREAS, after many years of public service to the City of Lakewood, including <br />membership on the Board of Education & the City Planning Commission, Mr. Summers was elected <br />to the Ward 3 City Council seat in 2007, appointed Mayor for 2011 and was subsequently elected <br />Mayor in the 2011 and 2015 campaigns, with his second term set to expire on December 31, 2019; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, Mayor Summers has measurably improved the quality of life for Lakewood <br />residents by prioritizing efficient and high -quality core city services and focusing on community <br />health, public safety, sound governance, economic development and vibrant neighborhoods; and <br />WHEREAS, in cooperation with City Council, Mayor Summers and his administration have <br />placed the city of Lakewood in a robust financial position, with a strong credit and an Aa2 bond <br />rating, enabling the city to creatively respond to unique opportunities while maintaining one of the <br />lowest income tax rates in the region; and, <br />WHEREAS, Mayor Summers has made himself available to all residents by personally <br />responding to phone calls, meeting requests and being regularly available to the general public at <br />over ninety Listening to Lakewood informal drop -ins, where he listened to input with an open mind, <br />and responded to issues and new ideas brought forward by residents; and, <br />WHEREAS, after nine years serving as Mayor of this City which he loves, honors and <br />respects, Mayor Summers did not seek re-election for 2020 allowing Lakewood's next generation of <br />leaders the opportunity to lead; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council does hereby commend Mayor Summers for his nine years of <br />service as Mayor of Lakewood. <br />Section 2. That this Council does hereby wish Mayor Summers, his wife Wendy Summers <br />and his three adult children all the best in their future endeavors in Lakewood and beyond. <br />Section 3.
