Bullock, l.itten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br />RESOLUTION NO.2020-05 BY <br />A RESOLUTION to recognize Miss Zenovia Parkanzky for the talented writing, civic <br />pride, and heartfelt sentiments she displayed in her award -winning essay "Why I Love <br />Lakewood." <br />WHEREAS, in 2019 the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce sponsored its annual essay <br />contest open to all fourth graders in the City resulting in over 170 submissions, and; <br />WHEREAS, a panel of six judges assessed all submissions based on originality, <br />organization, descriptive language, and grammar, and; <br />WHEREAS, Zenya's essay beautifully expresses her excitement and appreciation of <br />Lakewood's unique retailers, restaurants, and most of all, Lakewood Park and; <br />WHEREAS, the panel of judges selected Zenovia Parkanzky's essay as the best overall <br />submission, awarding her a cash prize and the opportunity to ride in the Light Up Lakewood <br />parade on December 7, 2019. Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council does hereby recognize Miss Zenovia Parkanzky for her <br />sincere and well -written expressions of civic pride which resulted in her winning the 2019 <br />Lakewood Chamber of Commerce's "Why I Love Lakewood" Essay Contest. <br />Section 2. That this Council does hereby recognize the proud family of Zenovia <br />Parkanzky for their encouragement of Zenya's reading, writing, and civic pride. <br />Section 3. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to present a <br />certified copy of this resolution to Zenovia Parkanzky and her family. <br />Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />s <br />Adopted: <br />PRESIDENT <br />CLERK <br />Approved: <br />MAY <br />
