If the death occurs outside of the continental United States and the employee does <br />not attend the funeral, one (1) day's leave will be granted. One (1) day's leave will <br />be granted in the event of the death of an aunt or uncle, niece or nephew, provided <br />the employee attends the funeral. If an individual on funeral leave requests additional <br />time off, additional days may be granted and charged to sick leave or vacation at the <br />employee's option. <br />17.02 Jury Duty/Witness Duty Leave <br />A. A full-time employee called for jury duty or subpoenaed as a witness shall be <br />granted a leave of absence with pay for the period of jury or witness service. To be <br />eligible for such pay, an employee must present certification of their call to jury <br />duty or witness duty. Only when jury duty or witness duty is in Lakewood Court, <br />shall the employee reimburse the City any monies received from the Court and shall <br />return to work for any remaining hours of the work shift upon release from such <br />court duty. <br />B. The parties expressly agree that the concept of jury duty pay is for the employee to <br />be able to serve jury duty without the loss of compensation for such time, and not <br />to provide a windfall for employees called to jury duty. Accordingly, jury duty pay <br />will be calculated to ensure that the employee does not lose any straight -time <br />compensation he/she would have earned absent jury service. <br />17.03 Military Leave <br />An employee shall be granted a leave of absence for military duty in accordance with state and <br />federal law. <br />ARTICLE 18 <br />MATERPIITY/SICK LEAVE WITH SICK TIME PAY <br />18.01 All employees shall earn sick time pay at the rate of 4.6 hours for every eighty (80) hours <br />paid and may accumulate such sick time to nine hundred and sixty (960) hours. Sick time pay <br />may be utilized on account of illness or injury incapacitating the employee from working and <br />requiring the employee's absence or to care for sick or injured, pregnant, or newborn members of <br />the employee's immediate family. Immediate family for the purpose of this Article shall be defined <br />as spouse, son, daughter, stepchild, mother, father or stepparent. If the marriage of people of same <br />sex is no longer permitted by law the definition of spouse will include same -sex partners and the <br />definition of stepchild will include the children of same -sex partners. <br />14 <br />
