Bullock, Ker pki, I_itten, Neff, lYtclapcy, kadc:-, <br />RESOLUTION NO.2020-37 BY: hachw:;r <br />A RESOLUTION to commit to participation in and promote participation in the 21 Day Racial <br />Equity and Social Justice Challenge program designed to build social justice habits, particularly <br />those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership. <br />WHEREAS, systemic, institutional racism and discrimination causes extensive <br />psychological, physiological, academic and economic harm to all members of the community, <br />and; <br />WHEREAS, people are often unaware of their own internalized racial biases and <br />prejudices, and how they negatively impact their thinking and decision -making, and; <br />WHEREAS, governmental leaders bare a particular responsibility to identify and work to <br />address their own areas for growth to ensure that they are prepared to lead with anti -racist <br />intention, and; <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood residents have expressed, and city leaders share, an urgent desire <br />to ensure that our community continues to march toward an inclusive, diverse ,and socially just <br />future. Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council does hereby declare that, prior to January 1, 2021, each member <br />shall fully participate in and complete the 21 Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge as <br />presented by the Cleveland YWCA. <br />Section 2. That this Council recognizes and commends the Mayor's intention to commit herself, <br />her Directors and Chiefs, and other administrative team members to do likewise. <br />Section 3. That this Council invites all residents to visit the YWCA of Cleveland's 21 Day <br />Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge website for more information on the program and to <br />participate. <br />Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and <br />relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and <br />that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal <br />action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: co rb Imo <br />PRESIDENT <br />CLERK <br />Approved: _ /2a yo % , '1� J, <br />MAYO <br />
