Councilmember Shachner asked whether Mr. Brown was aware of any other cities that <br /> have successfully encourages their business, restaurants, etc.to reduce single use plastic <br /> items. Mr. Brown stated that San Francisco's Office of Sustainability is in a league of its own. <br /> San Francisco passed legislation that requires durables be used whenever possible and <br /> requires compostable materials in other circumstances. He highlighted the need to increase <br /> regional composting capacity before any steps are made toward that end. He also noted <br /> that Athens, Ohio passed legislation that implemented citywide composting for households. <br /> Approval of the minutes of the May 11, 2020 Public Works &Sustainability <br /> Committee. <br /> Chairman Rader made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Bullock to approve the <br /> minutes from the committee's last meeting. <br /> A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas - Bullock, Litten, Rader <br /> Nays - None <br /> Motion passed. The minutes were approved. <br />
